On the other side, sometimes the conditioning factor is the type of cultivation. There are crops such as blueberries in which it is interesting to maintain the coir fiber for more than 5 years. Others, as horticultural crops, do not need such a long duration.

In any case, after the end of the use for which the coir fiber was initially purchased, it can be managed together with other plant residues to be composted, applied directly to the growing soil or mixed with other substrates. It is a solution for giving it a new use thus avoiding the management problems of other products as the synthetic substrates.
