One of the practices in horticultural production is to incorporate coir fibre to the soil. This agronomic solution improves the physical and chemical conditions of soil avoiding problems generated by the lack of organic material.

Once the production season has ended is important to disinfect the coir fibre before preparing again the soil for a new production. It is important to do it correctly to avoid the proliferation of fungi, viruses, and bacteria.

For the disinfection of coir fiber slabs introduced to the floor, the use of active materials such as 23% Hydrogen Peroxide (w / w) in combination with 15% Peracetic Acid (w / w) is recommended. It acts by oxidation and is highly effective for the control of possible infections in soils and substrates.

Preparation:

Disinfection must be carried out once the cultivation is finished and must stay clean of plant remains from the previous cultivation.

For floors where coir fibre has been incorporated, it is advisable to maintain an optimal level of soil and substrate humidity to guarantee the maximum disinfecting power of this product, for 5-10 days before starting disinfection. It is not necessary to cover the coir fiber slabs with a plastic {“type”:”block”,”srcIndex”:7,”srcClientId”:”dbe175d8-9c38-4085-b31b-65ce67590691″,”srcRootClientId”:””}film.

Instructions and dosage for use:

Apply the disinfectant directly using a Venturi type dispenser since the dissolved oxygen content in the water is increased. It is recommended to introduce the disinfectant in a irrigation during 20-30 minutes. The dose is 200 L / Ha.

Security headline:

Once the disinfection has been carried out, they will be allowed to elapse at least 10 days before the transplant.

Precautions:

  • After this period and before transplanting, it is recommended to open the ends of the irrigation lines / pipes to wash the possible presence of dirt residues (organic and inorganic matter) and also, carry out washing irrigation on the ground and in the coir slabs.
  • During the application of the disinfectant, it is recommended to apply directly to the irrigation system avoiding contact with the EC and pH measurement probes.
  • Before transplanting, saturate the plate with initial fertilizer solution.
  • Do not mix with other chemical products.
