White peat makes possible the right root development of the plant, which ensures the succes of the crop during the first phases. Applying peat in the soil, the conditions are improved: homogeneity, adequate pH, aeration capacity and drainage. In addition, using peat it is possible to increase the organic matter for a good development of the plant.

Sustraberry Blueberry Premium

 

Substrate based on a mixture of fine blonde peat, black peat, Cocopeat® coconut fibre and perlite. It is a substrate that has great physical stability when transported. In addition, the mixture of black peat and coconut fibre provides a perfect balance for drainage. The proportion of special blonde SOD peat provides nutrients to the substrate, which allow roots to be established properly. The perlite also provides the necessary aeration of the growth medium. This substrate is, therefore, perfect for plants that, like the blueberry plant, require an acidic pH soil level. The optimum range is between 4.5 and 5.5.

Sustraberry Blueberry Excellence

 

Substrate with a coarse structure based on the mixture of selected blonde peat with a proportion of SOD peat, with coconut fibre with a special structure, coarse and with short fibres, and perlite.

Thanks to its high proportion of coconut, it is a long lasting substrate, since the coconut degrades less than peat, providing physical stability. In addition, the coconut fibre avoids compaction and, therefore, facilitates proper drainage. The proportion of blonde peat included provides nutrients to the substrate to aid in the proper establishment of roots.

The perlite also contributes to the durability and provides the growth medium with the necessary aeration. This substrate is, therefore, perfect for plants such as the blueberry plant, which requires an acidic pH soil level. The optimum range is between 4.5 and 5.5.

DiskProtect Weed Control

 

Protecting the substrate is very important for crops with a longer vegetation cycle, as unwanted grasses can grow on the substrate base over time, which would damage the crop.

It is a 100% natural protector, made of recyclable coconut fibre. The coconut fibre is treated with 100% natural rubber, sprayed to help maintain the disc’s shape. Unlike other protectors with the same use, it has enough consistency to protect properly, preventing evapotranspiration, but allowing ventilation.

 

Suitable for

Cultivation of blueberry plants in pots.


Application

Place in the pot, on the substrate, passing the stem of the plant through the disc. Protects the plant from weeds and prevents evapotranspiration of the substrate.

Weed control in blueberry crops can increase yields by up to 56%

Performing weed control, even with systems that don’t include herbicides (such as rice straw, sawdust, or anti-weed meshes) can increase fruit yields in blueberry plants by up to 56.6%.

Tests carried out over several years in Chilean blueberry producing areas show significant increases in fruit yield in high-density blueberry fields by comparing manual weeding, every 3 weeks, with the uncontrolled control group, stated Engineer Alvaro Villalba, the Director of Horticulture at Projar.

While the use of rice straw and manual control helped to obtain good yields, the increase in yields in the tests was lower than that produced by some herbicides and systems based on anti-weed meshes, which are a clear alternative to the use of chemical products as they were very effective, even though – in some cases- producers need to complement them with manual weeding around the plants’ base, Villalba said.
